The actual eighth film made in the franchise is also the eighth film you should watch if you're doing a chronological binge. The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It brings us into the '80s with a ghoulish tale based on the real life trial of Arne Cheyenne Johnson, who claimed "demonic possession" after murdering his landlord. a negative review of this says "why was there so much romantic backstory who cares about the romance in the conjuring" and the answer is me. i care. frankly the only reason i watch these movies is to dream about a potential future in which i have a husband who wants to go demon hunting with me (and preferably looks like patrick wilson).
